Doritos....

I love Doritos, unfortunately.  They are so tasty and consequently awful for me.  I don't know about you, but I don't feel like 12 chips is enough sometimes, and I know I eat more than that prescribed serving.

In 12 chips I alone I get:
140 Calories
7 Grams of Fat
18 Carbohydrates
A whopping 2 grams of Protein
No more than 4% of Vitamin E, Vitamin B6 or Iron (And nothing of anything else)

Magnifiying that by two or three servings and....yikes.  Bad news.
I have staved off temptations like these lately and looking at these labels helps.

Meat Night

Oh Meat Night, the weekly Wednesday meal where we feel privileged to get a choice of some rough skirt steak, greasy chicken cordon bleu, grilled chicken (sometimes undercooked...like tonight) or chicken fingers (surprisingly always awesome).  It's hard to turn down delicious fried fingers but I managed to.  I stuck to the grilled and felt good about my choice.  Campus Center meals also tend to have a plentiful bounty of french fries next to those meats.  I managed to portion those.  I have a soft spot for potatoes.  My mom and grandma cook those way too much, I'm addicted.  To compliment those I went with my every-day, every-meal spinach salad with broccoli and sunflower seeds.  I have found in my dieting or lack there of that I see drastic results with a drastically strick diet.  At some points in my past I would turn down the french fries.  Where I'm at with the diet I'm on I feel fine fudging and having a few.  I'm definitely seeing some results, which is encouraging.

Jump Off Point

I've taken an initiative to start eating healthier along with working out extensively.  I started P90X this week and began a new diet.  I found that more of my choices were about saying no to somethings as opposed to portioning them.  For instance, the Ben and Jerry's my roommates tempted me with the other day.

This week I limited my fast food intake and ate a spinach and sunflower seed salad with every meal at Campus Center.  I haven't touched soda and am trying to limit my sugar intake to under 15 grams a day.  I have done something similar to that in the past and it's really helped.  I tend to get information from my mom about nutrition.  She's always looking at things and telling me stuff like "Don't eat anything with high-fructose corn syrup" and things like that.

I've already seen results from my diet and exercise change. Hoping for some more.
